Grida's 27 points and 7 rebounds give him Player of the Week award

26-year old Australian swingman Daniel Grida (195-G/F-1998) had a great game in the last round for Hawkes Bay Hawks and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
He had the game-high 27 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for Hawks in his team's victory, helping them to beat Panthers (#12, 0-8), the league's bottom-ranked team 103-88. Thanks to this victory Hawks moved-up to the 8th position in New Zealand league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Hawks will need more victories to improve their 5-4 record. In the team's last game Grida had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Hawks, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Grida has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.5ppg. Grida is in league's top in and averages solid 1.3bpg,2.8spg and 67.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Josiah Allick (203-F-2001) of Southland Sharks. He is American forward in his first season at Sharks. In the last game Allick recorded an impressive double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds. Of course he led Sharks to another comfortable win outscoring the higher-ranked Bulls (#3, 6-3) 114-71. Sharks' 9th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Allick is one of the most experienced players at Sharks and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.5ppg (#7). He also registered 10.4 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Miles Gibson (198-F-1998) of Manawatu Jets (#6). Gibson got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds . He was a key player of Jets, leading his team to a 103-91 win against Hawks (5-4). Jets needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 4 lost games. Gibson has a great season in New Zealand. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.4ppg (5th best).
